Education is important to us and over the years, we have run many club seminars with speakers from both inside and outside of the breeds on a variety of subjects.
Learning about the breeds
There is a wealth of information available online, one of the best resources is the Collielife website which contains a puppy guide, grooming information and show listings.
If you live in the south east of england and would like guidance or assistance with grooming, trimming or any other element of owning a rough or smooth collie, then please contact us and a member of our committee will be glad to assist you.
If you would like to learn to steward at a show, then please contact us and we will endeavour to offer you the opportunity to come into the ring at one of our own shows with an experienced steward who will guide you in your learning. In the first instance, you should read the Kennel Club guide to ring stewarding which can be found within this document, page 35, chapter ten.
If you would like to learn to judge the rough or smooth collie, in the first instance, please apply for our C list for either breed by sending a covering letter and your CV to our secretary, Stephen Clark. It is important that you apply for our list and are included within it as it is this list which we circulate to local general open shows who are looking for B and C list judges for the breeds. If you move house or your details change, please make sure that you inform us. As you become more experienced, you have the opportunity to apply to move up the list from C, to B, to A list. If you would like any further information about either breed, please contact our committee and we will do our very best to help and support you.
